These pictures may cause some distress -  please note this animal was already deceased when rescued. 

 It would have been a terrible way to die for this poor bat; she was caught and couldn't escape.  The paw paw tree with netting she was caught in was right next to the brick house and in full sun.  It was very hot.   The owners of the house were away for a few days and didn't know she was there.
If it is absolutely necessary to net a fruit tree, please use exclusion netting (not the cheap monofilament netting from Bunning’s or Crazy Clarks) and have it tight, right to the ground so bats can't climb under.  Shade cloth is safer but should also be tight to the ground.   A nicer solution would be to take what fruit you want and leave the rest for the wildlife.
